SIX MEN GETTING SICK (SIX TIMES)
El primer cortometraje del director David Lynch, una animación un tanto extraña que nos muestra mediante figuras abstractas, a 6 hombres sufriendo de una enfermedad estomacal, desde el inicio de esta, hasta las consecuencias en las que termina, acompañado de un sonido continuo (lo que se llama loop), de una sirena de ambulancia; y este proceso es repetido 6 veces a lo largo el film.

El cortometraje es una excelente expresión del dadaísmo, corriente que se enfoca en el rechazo absoluto de toda tradición o esquema predeterminado, y por la cual se inclina mucho este director, mostrándonos a seis hombre representados tan solo por cabezas con expresiones diferentes cada una, complementándose mediante líneas e imágenes de sistemas digestivos; cuando por otro lado la enfermedad es representada mediante figuras y colores contrastantes, recreando a esta mediante movimientos, dándonos a notar el sufrimiento de los personajes sin que estos tengan un cambio en su fisionomía. Sin duda alguna Lynch logra emitir sensaciones de malestar, incomodidad y confusión, consiguiendo que el espectador tenga cierta conexión con las imágenes, no por lo estilístico si no por lo que causa verlas.
Como complemento, cabe mencionar que en 1967 la intención de David Lynch, fue crear una pintura que fuera más allá, que tuviera movimiento y sonido, algo muy similar a lo que ahora se llama video arte. La proyección de este cortometraje en un concurso de pintura y escultura, no solo lo hizo acreedor del premio ganador, si no que logro llamar la atención del público, y así comenzar con su ya tan reconocida carrera fílmica.
Seis hombres se enferman seis veces, un pequeño film que puede no ser el agrado de muchas personas, pero el cual llamara la atención y especulación de quien lo observe.

Lynch es complicado, en muchas ocasiones considero que es mucho más un artista visual que narrativo no creen? Aún así siempre es bueno revisar el trabajo de un creador desde sus inicios, resulta ser un breve esbozo de lo que es ahora. El corto es extraño sobre todo desde una perspectiva objetiva, pero debemos entender que su alejamiento de la realidad pretende pararse lejos de una perspectiva realista. Cuando esto ocurre, creo que la parte del discurso sale a flote.
